Do you want the chairs to look new longer, feel clean for every customer – and avoid stiff padding? Let us find a simple routine that works in a busy everyday life. Most “leather chairs” in salons are actually vegan leather, aka faux leather. It is durable, stain-resistant, and stays looking great – especially if you care for it properly.

Shampoo, hairspray, skin cream, color residues, coffee, sweat, and ordinary dust. Over time, it forms a film that makes the surface dry. That’s why it makes sense to have a care product that both gently cleans and adds elasticity, so the material doesn’t dry out and crack. If you don’t want to read the entire article, you can buy a care set right here.
Imagine closing time. You shake the bottle, spray one to two sprays onto the cloth (not directly on the chair), and wipe the seat, armrests, and backrest in smooth motions. Finally, you give a quick polish with the cloth’s smooth side, and the chair looks fresh and even without any film. It takes two to three minutes per chair, and the next morning you’ll find shiny surfaces and a subtle, clean scent.

Because Carisma Cleaning & Care Lotion is specifically developed for professional faux leather on hairdressing chairs. The lotion is ready to use, cleans without solvents, gently removes dirt, and prevents drying out so the surface retains its flexibility. You get the set with a high-quality, reusable microfiber cloth that makes cleaning easy – and yes, it’s thoroughly tested in practice. Are there alternatives? Yes. Would I recommend them to a hairdresser? No.
If color, coffee, or anything else gets on the upholstery, grab the cloth immediately. Quick wiping makes all the difference. For color, you should of course remove as much as possible with, for example, kitchen paper or toilet paper. Then stop by with the set from Greiner, if possible while the customer is still there. And remember the good habit during color treatments: a good cover that protects the chair saves you a lot of work and possibly buying new chairs.
Water removes the top dust but not product films and grease. Alcohol and harsh universal cleaners can dry out and wear off the top coat of the upholstery. The result is a vulnerable surface that ages prematurely. If you had a salon during the corona crisis, where you had to disinfect after every customer, this won’t come as a surprise to you.
Give seams, transitions, and armrests a little extra love now and then – that’s where residues gather. Also look at the base: a damp cloth over the cross base and pump keeps metal and chrome looking nice. Avoid rinsing with too much water; dry afterwards to prevent water spots.
Always test a new product on a discreet spot if the surface is very delicate. Consider the age of your furniture: if they are 12 years old now, and they were 15 years old when you bought them, the surface may react negatively to harsh products like alcohol. Always avoid contact with eyes and heated surfaces, and don’t let the product dry before wiping it off. Store it out of children’s reach.
If every day at closing time you spray Carisma on the cloth and wipe the chair, the faux leather stays glossy and elastic, and you start each morning with a clean workspace. If stains appear, you remove them immediately. Making this a habit extends the chair’s lifespan, enhances the first impression – and makes it pleasant for both you and your customers.
